Shelby Wakeman, FNP-BC

Founder & Clinician, knwn.

Shelby is a Family Nurse Practitioner whose approach to care has been shaped by both her clinical training and her own experience navigating complex health issues that didn't fit neatly into a single diagnosis.

Before founding knwn., she cared for patients in a wide range of clinical settings, including high-acuity pediatric care at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, travel nursing, and procedural and aesthetic medicine. It was during this time that she began experiencing chronic symptoms her own healthcare couldn't fully explain.

Working with a practitioner who looked at her health as a connected system, rather than a list of symptoms, ultimately helped her get well. It also transformed the way she thinks about patient care.

That experience gave her a deep empathy for patients dealing with chronic, vague, or multi-system symptoms, especially those who have felt dismissed, unheard, or exhausted from trying to find answers on their own.

Shelby's approach is rigorous, collaborative, and patient-centered. She considers each person's history, exam findings, laboratory results, and lived experience together, not because every detail matters equally in every case, but because thoughtful care requires context.

She's especially drawn to patients who have been carrying questions about their health for a long time, and who want a clinician willing to sit with complexity rather than reach for quick answers.

Care that knows you.

Personalized care designed around your symptoms, health history, and long-term wellbeing.
